Pottery & My Dream

My love of clay was instantaneous, love at first touch, a love affair that I know in my heart will never end. Clay is the only thing I have ever held in my hands and thought 'endless possibilities'.

I began my clay journey in 2001 after being laid off of my job of 23 years. I decided to do something for myself and had always wanted to try working with clay. I signed up that winter for 6 lessons, a Christmas gift for myself and 6 the next year and then, unfortunately, life took over, raising my 3 children on my own and a full time job.

I thought about clay so often, missed it terribly but did not have the resources to play again. I kept a tiny pot (shown in photo to left) that I made and wasn't able to bisque fire so I put it in a baggie and prayed it would stay in dry clay form long enough that I could someday get it finished. It was very fragile in that state but somehow made it without breaking.Than in 2009, when I was again laid off, I was determined to get back to my love of clay. That tiny pot is glazed now and on my desk, my link from that life to this, a reminder that love does last and when your destiny is handed to you, you should gratefully accept it, no matter the sacrifices you may have to make to get it and keep it in your life. I will never be without clay again, I promise myself.

I am not on stable financial ground yet but I know I soon will be and it was worth every moment and every effort to get back to my love of clay.
To the right is one of my latest pieces of pottery art, it is called 'You are the Key'. And you truly are the key to your own destiny. Take hold and make it happen. Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can!
I begin with a ball of clay and when the clay and I merge it feels like we enter a magical world, no worries, no problems, nothing but pure love. Time does not exist. Ahhh, it is beautiful.
I'd love for you to visit my Etsy site and join my Facebook Cloud 9 Pottery page and let me know if you have any comments or suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Blessings to each and every one of you, may you find the strength to make your dreams come true,
Wesa Parkinson
